# Ask Ellie

> Ask engineering questions across connected code, pull requests, incidents, delivery, and AI-agent context—and continue to a permitted action.

Ask Ellie is the conversational layer across the sources your workspace connects. Use it from the web or Slack to investigate code, pull requests, incidents, delivery, and AI-agent activity without manually joining each system.

## How answers are built

Ellie can use only the context and permissions available to the workspace and user.

A strong answer identifies the time range, repository, project, team, or source it used. If context is missing, narrow the request or connect the required source.

## Answers and actions

Most questions are read-only. Depending on connected systems and permissions, Ellie may also help create tickets, reminders, alerts, recurring reports, or automations.

<Warning>
  Treat ticket creation, reminders, external messages, automation creation, fix generation, and other writes as actions—not chat output. Confirm the destination, scope, and content before proceeding. Availability and confirmation behavior depend on your workspace configuration.
</Warning>

## Where to use Ellie

* **Web**: open [**Ask Ellie**](https://app.entelligence.ai/ask-ellie) for full conversations and suggested prompts.
* **Slack**: ask from an approved workspace or channel after connection, bot membership, and user mapping.
* **Analytics**: use **Ask Ellie** actions from supported Code Review, Agent Insights, Team Insights, or Reliability views.

## Get better answers

Include:

* Repository, service, team, or project
* Time range
* Desired comparison
* Evidence you want returned
* Whether you want only analysis or also a proposed action

For example: “For the payments repository in the last 14 days, show the three pull requests with the longest review cycle, explain the delay using review activity, and do not create any tickets.”

## Next step

Follow the [web quickstart](/ask-ellie/setup), use [Ellie in Slack](/ask-ellie/slack), or copy a [prompt by persona](/ask-ellie/prompts).
